There are some interesting looking teas that can be found in your local stores.
I came across red raspberry leaf tea from Traditional Medicinals a couple years ago and ended up buying it after doing some research. This post will tell you a little bit about the tea and give you my review on it.
Traditional Medicinals company
This company offers teas that are said to have health-related benefits. Some of the options have only one plant on the ingredient list and other ones are a blend.
On the company's site, you are able to search by type of benefit that you are interested in/seeking to see the teas they have. Clicking on each one will also tell you the taste that it has.
Their site also has a blog that discusses their tea options and provides some recipes.
Traditional Medicinals red raspberry leaf tea
This tea is from their Women's Cycle benefit line. Each tea bag contains 1500 mg of red raspberry leaf. As with other herbal teas, the bags need to be steeped for at least 10 minutes. Three to four bags a day is recommended.
Red raspberry leaves have been used for things such as the following:
Inducing labor
Balancing hormones
Treating menstrual cramps
Reducing heaviness of periods
Treating nausea/morning sickness
Boosting the immune system
Treating sore throats
The nutrients in red raspberry leaf tea include vitamin Bs, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C, calcium, iron, potassium, antioxidants, magnesium and zinc.
My review of the tea
I chose to buy this tea because of its effects on hormones. I have horrible issues due to my hormones and I am always looking for something that will help me with them.
When making my first cup of this tea, I noted the nice fruity smell of it. I chose the maximum steep time of 15 minutes so I could get all of the nutrients and flavor out of it.
After my first cup was done steeping, I added Splenda (yes I use that stuff and it is not going to kill me) to taste. I can honestly say that I loved the flavor. It was very much like black tea with a fruity undertone.
At the time of me drinking that first cup, I had been experiencing nausea due to my impending period. The tea gave me a lot of relief. Since then I have been using it pretty regularly as my hormonal nausea is present during certain days of ALL my menstrual cycles.
Another thing that this tea has helped me with is a sore throat. Whenever I have gotten one, this tea really soothed it.
I will never stop keeping this tea around!
I would recommend this tea
I love this tea and would recommend it for women who have menstrual issues. It may not work for others but it is definitely worth a shot.
There are a lot of other wonderful teas by Traditional Medicinals that I also think are worth checking out.
Have any of you had red raspberry leaf tea or anything from Traditional Medicinals? Let me know!
